What is it about Photography that keeps us coming back.

Is it the art, the adrenaline or is it the satisfaction? It’s different for us all, but we love it and we all have a different reason for why we do it. For me, as a professional, it’s the satisfaction of handing over the finished product. Photography is now all around us. Look at how many pictures we post on Instagram, Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, and Twitter. Since the inception of the smartphone we have gone picture crazy and it’s a beautiful thing.

Usually my clients don’t know what to expect when they book me for a wedding or a photo session. Yes, they have seen my work. But each session is different, just as every sunset, each face, and every expression is different. As a photographer it is my job to pull the moment out of my subject, so they see exactly what it is that makes them different. Photography records life and moments in a snapshot of time that you can never get back. The idea of photography has been around since the early 1800s and has been revolutionized by modern day technology companies like Canon, Nikon and Sony. Before that, pictures were drawn to capture history. But like an artist who draws a picture, photographers draw pictures with light. If the light is not right, the image is not right. There are artist all over the world with different passions and capabilities to record history and as an artist, I make it my priority to do just that. After all the cropping, retouching, and color correction and countless hours I spend producing images, I just want to see the expression on a client’s face when they see the finished product. That moment is priceless. And I love being able to bring that joy to my clients. Memories of family, memories of marriage, memories of babies and children, memories of yourself as you age gracefully, and so many more. These are just some of the reasons why I like, I mean, LOVE photography. This art is not for everyone. I find myself up all night looking at tutorials, practicing, reading books, studying light, and surrounding myself with photography. I have been spending thousands of dollars on new gear and constantly beating myself up about being better? There is nothing else physical I rather do. This is my passion.
